Howdy

From the last best place—I'm Jess, a digital and film photographer based in Western Montana, with a background in commercial advertising and a deep love for timeless imagery.

While my early work was shaped by the structure and precision of the commercial world, portraiture is where I found wild freedom. Here, the pace slows, the edges soften, and authenticity takes center stage.

I am drawn to beauty in its quietest forms—light falling across a field, the stillness between two people, the poetry of a fleeting glance. I believe the most meaningful images are those that feel both effortless and intentional.

What you’ll find here are photographs created without pressure or pretense. Honest, artful, and deeply personal. A celebration of story, presence, and all that is real.

My approach

Though I love a bit of drama in a photograph, my approach behind the camera is anything but. It’s lighthearted, goofy, and, I like to think, fun.

We all carry a vast spectrum of emotion, and I want to draw it out gently and honestly. I want to photograph you as you are: present, unguarded, and fully alive: happy, sad, pensive, etc, etc.

My work is for the creatives, the romantics, the daydreamers—for anyone who sees beauty in the details and lives with hearts wide open.

Love is love is love is love

Discovering who we truly are is a lifelong unfolding—and there’s something deeply meaningful in honoring that journey. There is no perfect version, no final destination.

But this version of you—your love, your family, your becoming—is worthy of being seen, celebrated, and preserved, just as it is, right now.
